Joseph Philip Herrera It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our amazing father, Joseph P. Herrera, at the age of 100 years. He passed away November 29, 2018 in his home of 53 years, surrounded by family. Joe was born in Marfa, Texas on August 11, 1918 to Joseph R. Herrera and Elisa Planchet Herrera. The family moved to Miami, Arizona where Joseph attended elementary school and Miami High School. The family then moved to Pasadena, CA where Joe graduated from Pasadena High School. He earned a Bachelor Degree from Woodbury College, also in Pasadena. Joe spent 4 and 1/2 years in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Major and is a Veteran of World War II and a member of the Greatest Generation! Joe married Marian Frances Hegeman on February 21, 1947. They have three children, five grandchildren and six grandsons. Joe and Marian were married for 68 years until her passing in 2015. Joe worked for States Steamship Company, and Matson Lines. He retired in 1983. During their retirement, Joe and Marian loved to travel and were blessed to have visited Spain, France, Germany Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guam, the Netherlands and the Hawaiian Islands. Joe was an avid San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers fan and loved to watch his teams play. He was fortunate to have seen both of his teams win multiple championships. Joe is survived by his children Dan (Debbie), Dianne (Jim), and Cyndy. His grandchildren Aaron, Anna, Andrew (Jenna), Nathan (Jen) and Colin. His great-grandsons Jacob, AJ, Isaiah, Liam, Rafael, and Anton. A Rosary will be held on Thursday evening, December 13, 2018, 5:30 pm at Monte's Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 330 Redhill Ave. San Anselmo. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 14, 2018, 11:00 am at St. Isabella's Catholic Church, 1 Trinity Way in San Rafael followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.
