Loraine Forster Obituary

Loraine 'Lori' Dow Forster Loraine 'Lori' Dow Forster passed away peacefully at her home in Fairfax, California on December 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Gould Forster in March, 2015. Lori was born November 6, 1942 in Mt. Vernon, New York, daughter to the late Donald C. and Anne B. (Slevinsky) Dow and grew up in the Bronx graduating from Evander Childs High School in 1960. She worked in Manhattan for a year or so then decided to "fly the friendly skies" with United Airlines. Training took place in Newark, New Jersey where Lori formed lifelong friendships with other trainees. This core of "stews" came to the west coast and were based in San Francisco where Lori flew domestic and international flights for more than 40 years before retiring in 2007. Lori loved life and shared joy with everyone she met. Lori is survived by her brother Donaldson A. Dow (Peggy) of Dunnellon, Florida and her sister R. Caryn Birchenough (Richard) of Penn Yan, New York. Also surviving is an uncle Daniel Slevinsky, (Rose) of Terryville, Connecticut; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Following her wishes Lori was cremated. A gathering of family and friends will take place at Lake Tahoe in June 2019 to celebrate her life and memory. As many of you know Lori and Dick relished the time they spent outdoors hiking, fishing, boating, camping and skiing. To commemorate their lives, the family has established a Memorial Grove in Tahoe National Forest through an organization called Trees for a Change to help restore an area destroyed by wildfire. We invite family, friends and the community to contribute trees to this special grove by visiting this link http://www.treesforachange.com/products/custom-grove-of-treesor contact Trees For a Change at 707-508-9262.
