Robert "Bob" Del Santo

Robert Del Santo, known to friends as "Bob, Rob or Bobby" passed away after a long battle with cancer at his home on January 4, 2019, at the age of 76 years.

Born in Ross June 8, 1942 to Leo and Yolanda, Bob grew up with his brother Bernie in San Rafael and attended Saint Raphael’s, Marin Catholic and then UCSF.  He enlisted in the US Army in March of 1964 and served 3 years receiving medals for Nation Defense Service and Good Conduct.   

In February of 1968, Bob began his career at San Anselmo Police Department and was promoted to Sergeant in 1976.  He retired in July of 1999 after serving 31 years at the San Anselmo Police Department.

Bob was a family man who enjoyed coaching baseball when his sons were younger, camping trips to McCloud in Mt. Shasta, working on cars, deer hunting, attending car shows and actively donated to several local charities.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon, son’s Michael (wife Erica grandchild Colin) and Raymond, nephew’s Tony (wife Cara children Brittany/husband Jeff grandnieces Lily and Harper, Christopher Taylor) and Leo (girlfriend Renee).

A rosary will be held at 7:00pm, on Thursday, January 17 at Monte’s Chapel of the Hills 330 Red Hill Ave, San Anselmo, CA 94960.  A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11 am, on Friday, January 18, at San Raphael’s Church 1104 5th Ave, San Rafael, CA 94901.

In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made in his memory to Hospice by the Bay in Greenbrae, CA.

The family wishes to thank all of Bob’s doctors at Kaiser in San Rafael, Kaiser Home Health Care and all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice by the Bay for the excellent and loving care given to him in this past year.
