Alfred Charles Cuthbert was born in San Francisco in 1932, raised in Marin, and passed away on March 3, 2024, in Santa Clara, California from a massive stroke. His love of people, Christ-like generosity, and boundless energy touched the lives of many.
Al met his treasured wife Sharon while students at CAL Berkeley. They shared 51 happy years of marriage until her death in 2010. Al and Sharon made lifelong friends through their time at CAL, while residing in San Rafael, and their St. Sylvester Church community. Their first love was Jesus. They partnered as excellent hosts and enjoyed all forms of music, theater, and watching the 49ers.
Al dedicated 45 years of his life to serving others as a Certified Public Accountant, first in San Francisco and later in Silicon Valley. He concluded his career working from his home in San Rafael as an independent CPA.
Al is survived by his children Lynne (George), Susanne, Jeanne (Scott) and Karen (John), grandchildren Caleb, Riley, Luke (Anahi), Jaina, Abigail, and Joshua, great-grandchildren Kaiden, Hailey, and Mateo, sister-in-law Janaleen, “adopted” sons Michael (Julie) and Father Ngoan Phan. His first beloved granddaughter, Laura, preceded him in death in 2020.
A memorial service will be held at St. Sylvester Chapel in San Rafael on June 7 at 1 pm.
