Alicia Colombard Obituary

Alicia Rhina Colombard

Alicia Rhina Colombard passed on at Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco surrounded by her loving family with her beloved husband at her side on August 5, 2022.  She fought bravely for her life but left peacefully without pain or suffering.  She was 77 years old.

Alicia, also lovingly called by her middle name Rhina by her close friends and family, was born on February 19, 1945, in El Salvador and was a life-long resident of San Francisco and Marin County.  Her father was Miguel Angel Bulnes, a prominent Salvadoran businessman and a renowned retired athlete.  He met and married her mother, Bertha Aracely Zamora, who became a homemaker and devoted mother of two children, including Alicia’s older brother Michael. Bertha Zamora was a strong woman.  She immigrated to the U.S. and raised her two children alone giving them an opportunity for a better life.  Her strength, tenacity, and love for her children helped mold Alicia into the loving and devoted mother that she became later in life. Her mother remarried Harry Loosey, who became Alicia’s stepfather.

Alicia grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco and attended high school at Polytechnic High School.  It was during that time she met her first husband, Donald Dee Murray. They went on to have three children, David and the twins Scott and Mark.

In 1985, she married the love of her life and best friend Jean-Marie Colombard in Corte Madera, CA. For the last 45 years, while living in Marin County, they traveled the world, spent summers on their boat in the Delta, and more than anything else enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Alicia loved music, singing and dancing, art, literature and movies.  She also loved to be outdoors basking in the sun and swimming in the water.

Alicia was the matriarch of her family of three children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The queen of her tribe.  She loved and cared for her husband Jean-Marie fiercely.  Her number one hobby in life was spending quality time with her family. She always looked forward to gathering her family and friends for holidays, birthdays or a fun barbecue or a party.  Alicia had strong family values and spent a great deal of time with her older brother Michael. One of Alicia’s favorite holidays was Christmas Eve and, for many decades, it was tradition to come and celebrate at her and Jean-Marie's home. She was richly blessed and much loved. Remembered by many for her generosity, big heart, spark, fearlessness, and wit. Her family surrounded her until the last moment of her life.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Jean-Marie Colombard; her sons David Anthony Murray, Scott Alexander Murray and Mark Douglas Murray; and all their spouses and children; her sister-in-law Carmen Garcia; her sister Susan Bulnes Witbeck; and her nieces and nephews.
