Anne C. Wooliever OBITUARY
Anne was born Mary Anne Carroll to Evelyn Fisher Carroll and Arthur P. Carroll on December 15, 1941, in New York City. The family, including her brothers Arthur “Bud” and Peter, moved to Pasadena and eventually to San Francisco in 1957. Anne attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart for high school and graduated from Dominican College in 1963. She chose to remain in Marin County, where she raised her two daughters, Michele and Mollie Wooliever. Her grandson Henry was an added blessing in her life.
Anne devoted over three decades of her life to the Marin County Juvenile Probation Department, from 1970 to 2006, culminating in her leadership as chief of probation from 2005 to 2006. Her commitment to her community was reflected in her years of service on the San Anselmo Town Council from 1980 to 1988, where she held the position of mayor in 1983 and 1986. She also played a role in the formation of the Ross Valley Fire Department.
Anne was also a patron of the arts–music, theater, and the visual arts enriched her life. She had season tickets to the San Francisco Opera and Symphony, but she was equally delighted by the artistic and athletic achievements of her daughters, grandson, nieces, and nephews. Her family was paramount to her, and she was deeply proud of her Irish and French heritage.
Anne will be lovingly remembered for her infectious laugh, unwavering commitment to others, boundless generosity, and deep capacity for love–all qualities that touched family, friends, and countless lives in Marin County and beyond.
She is predeceased by her daughter Evelyn Michele Wooliever. She is survived by her daughter Mollie Wooliever-White, her grandson Henry Fitzgerald White, as well as her four siblings: Barbara Carroll Robinson (Brian), Anthony John Carroll (Karen), Robert Gerard Carroll (Vicki), and Joan Carroll Innes (Mark); and her 16 nieces and nephews and 14 grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, at St. Anselm’s Church in San Anselmo, with a celebration of life at 1-4 p.m. at Café Arrivederci in San Rafael.
