Francella Theresa Hall

Francella Theresa Hall, 89, of Tiburon, CA died peacefully in her sleep November 4, 2024. Francella was preceded in death by her husband Walter Burnell Hall, a distinguished professor of dentistry and periodontics at University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California.

Francell “Fran” was born June 2, 1935, in Yakima, Washington, daughter of Francis Kohls and Palpileda Kohls of the state of Washington. Fran graduated from Seattle University in 1958 with a bachelor of arts degree in education. Fran founded and was executive director of the American International Youth Student Exchange Program of Marin County from 1981 to 2002. During these years she supervised the exchanges of more than 4,000 foreign students to the United State and 1,500 American high school students worldwide.

A life-long artist, Fran began painting in earnest the last 25 years. Her works are oil painting and watercolors mostly of landscapes, seascapes and florals inspired from places she visited and lived including San Francisco, Spain, Italy, France, other European countries and the Mediterranean. She was a member of the Marin Society of Artists, Society of Western Artists and Garden Center Art Guild in Tiburon. She was also a member of the Tiburon Heritage and Arts Commission and the National League of American Pen Women.

Fran is survived by her two sons Walter Scott Hall and Gregory Kohls Hall both of Fairfax, California, brother Stephen and wife Sheila Kohls of Yakima Washington, sister-in-law Grace Hall Denizkurt of Naples Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on January 30, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., at Saint Hilary’s Church, Tiburon.
