Geoffrey William Thomas
June 1, 1928 – April 2, 2025
Geoffrey William Thomas was born in London, England on June 1, 1928 to Reginald Thomas and Helen Brett Thomas. He had one brother, Allen Thomas. After completing his education in Business Administration, and as a young adventurous Englishman, Geoffrey went to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) living in the beautiful city of Umtali (now Mutare). After returning to England for a short time, Geoffrey went to Chicago, and later on to San Francisco, where he was a manufacturers representative, then later on, a commercial real estate investor.
Geoffrey was athletic, and regularly played squash, tennis and golf. In 1970, he won a California Class B squash tournament representing the Olympic Club of San Francisco. He was also the social spectator representing the Olympic Club at Pebble Beach with movie stares Charlton Heston, Angela Lansbury, Efrem Zimbalist and others participating.
Geoffrey joined The Club at Harbor Point in late 1960’s, where he participated in numerous tournaments, and on various teams, making many good friends. Geoffrey was a part of the original Harbor Point membership group. In 1966, he married Marcela Vigil Chopitea from Lima, Peru, whom he met at the Olympic Club during a dinner after a squash tournament. They lived in Kentfield for over 50 years. Geoffrey and Marcela enjoyed traveling to the beautiful beaches of Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.
Geoffrey passed away peacefully at MarinHealth Medical Center, with his wife, Marcela at his side. He was buried at the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in San Rafael June 8, 2025.
