Jerry Devincenzi passed away at home on April 9, 2023, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with Dementia.
Born and raised in San Francisco, he was preceded in death by his parents Angelo Devincenzi and Amy Devincenzi, and his brother Ron Devincenzi.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Peggy of 63 years and his three children Karen (Paul) Wilson, Steven Devincenzi, and David (Erin) Devincenzi. He was known as Papa to his cherished seven grandchildren: Andrew and Amy Wilson, Danielle, Michael and Sean Devincenzi, and Margot and Alyssa Devincenzi. He is also survived by his sister Janet (Devincenzi) Mondot and his sisters-in-law Marianne McCarthy and Jean White, and many other dear family members including cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After attending Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, Jerry served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, and began employment with Pacific Bell in 1957 where he provided telephone installation and repair services for 33 years. After retirement, he continued as a telephone system consultant for several more years.
Jerry married Peggy, his high school sweetheart, in 1960 and moved from San Francisco to Larkspur in 1967 where together they raised their family. He enjoyed family vacations in Lake Tahoe, fishing, and annual trips to the races at Del Mar. Jerry was a kind and gentle spirit, and a dear friend to many. He was always willing to give a helping hand.
Jerry was an active member of the Italian Athletic Club (ICA) of Marin and the Marin Bocce Federation in San Rafael. He loved playing Pedro (cards) with a very special group of friends.
The family will celebrate Jerry’s life with a mass on Friday May 12th at St. Patrick’s Church in Larkspur at 10:30 am with a reception to follow.
