Keith William Bortfeld
August 8,1940 - December 8, 2024
Parents William and Helen Bortfeld, the oldest of 5 children, Keith was born in San Francisco at St. Mary’s hospital and spent the majority of his childhood in Marin, namely Marin City, during WWII and then Ross. He was active in Boy Scouts and spent many summers at Chub Lake and Camp Tamarancho.
A graduate of Sir Francis Drake High School, class of 1958, he attended College of Marin prior to joining the Army, where he served at Fort Ord, Seaside. He spent the majority of his career as a maintenance technician, first with Optical Sciences Group until it was taken over by 3M, for 35 yrs before retiring.
Survived by his loving wife, Charlene Bortfeld, daughters Cindy Hansen(Martin) and Kelly Facer(Clark) and three grandchildren, Mark Hansen, Tina Hansen and Taylor Facer.
An avid hiker, he spent many family hours on Mt. Tam and surrounding hills. He also worked on the tugboat Hercules, volunteering to keep the boilers running. He loved bird watching, the ocean and traveling with Charlene.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring, TBD.
