Ken Stanford
March 27, 1947 - September 27, 2025
Tiburon, CA
Born and educated in England, Ken travelled widely during his career as a Metallurgy Scientist and Industrial Journalist. He studied the depletion of copper resources at Sheffield and Manchester Universities. Ken met Lesley at Grammar School, and they married in 1972. He loved music and dancing, and as a Mod in 1960s England he was known for his sharp style and his distinctive purple Vespa with copper side panels. Together, he and Lesley organised trips to the New Orleans Jazz Festival for European music fans throughout the 1970s and 80s. With his quick wit and humour, Ken brought laughter to all who knew him. A lifelong football supporter, he followed West Bromwich Albion, his beloved local West Midlands team through thick and thin. Generous, gentle, kind, loyal, honest, and always a good listener, Ken will be deeply missed by his wife of many years, his children Jamie and Katie, and his half-sister Pip.
“Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet Prince, And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.” Shakespeare Hamlet 5.2.
