Linda Heilmann Obituary

Linda Marie Heilmann

March 30, 1941 - Feb 3, 2024

Linda Marie Heilmann nee Morbello passed away peacefully at home on February 3rd surrounded by her loving family just two months shy of her 83rd birthday. She was born to  Erminio and Rose Morbello on March 30th, 1941, in San Francisco, California where she spent her childhood.  She was a graduate of St. Vincent dePaul Grammar School, St. Rose Academy High School, and Dominican University of California.

As a young girl Linda enjoyed many unique experiences.  She enjoyed fishing at Muni Pier, horseback riding in Golden Gate Park and frequenting her father’s delicatessen, Lucca’s on Chestnut Street.  Her fondest childhood memories were of an extended trip on the Queen Mary with her parents to visit family in Casale, Italy.

Linda left a teaching job to stay at home with her three children, who she raised with her husband John in Marin County.  As a mom, she was active in the St. Patrick School community serving as a substitute teacher, Physical Education teacher, Campfire Girls troop leader and chair of the fashion show fundraiser.  She could regularly be seen supporting her children at their many sporting events.  When not taxiing her children to their various activities, she could frequently be found at the local tennis courts either playing tennis or visiting with her friends.

A proud penguin, Linda was active in the alumni association at Dominican University serving several terms on the alumni board and enthusiastically attending alumni and sporting events in her gold and black.  She also spent several years working for Marin Special Olympics in the office and coaching the athletes in their events.  Her community work brought her much joy and she talked about it enthusiastically.

Linda had friends from every phase of her life: grammar school, high school, college, parent activities and church. Her legacy is evident in the number of close personal friends she leaves behind who were touched by her loyalty, kind nature and her love of a good laugh.  Linda is survived by her devoted children Ann Jaime (Mark), Christine Heilmann (Jim Grant) John Heilmann (Moira); and her beloved grandchildren Ian, Emma, Rosey, and Lily as well as her sister-in-law Mary Heilmann. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, her parents and her daughter, Mary. The family is thankful for her caregivers Lizzy, Lily, and Tina, who provided her with  companionship and compassion. Additionally, they are grateful for the service of Hospice of Marin, especially her nurse, Michelle.  A Memorial Mass will be held  at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Ross, California, followed by a reception at Dominican University, Edgehill Mansion.  Donations may be made in Linda's memory to Dominican University of California or a charity of your choice.
