Lorraine Matteucci Obituary

Lorraine Theresa Matteucci was born on April 20, 1926, in San Francisco California and died on May 27, 2026, one month and seven days after celebrating her 100th birthday. Lorraine was raised in San Anselmo where she continued to live with her mother and sister well into the later years of her life. She was predeceased by her father, Vincent J Matteucci, her mother, Justine Juliet Matteucci, as well as her sister Justine Marie Matteucci. Until her mother and sister’s passing, the three of them lived a full and adventurous life, traveling together, entertaining at home, and most importantly their involvement with their church, St. Anselms. Lorraine worked as a secretary at the upper school at San Deminico, the most favorite moments of that job were when the children would come to visit, Lorraine adored children. Her move to San Dominico school also enabled her to be closer to her mother as she got older. Once she retired, Loraine continued to stay active through volunteering at her church, as well as The Nazareth House in San Rafael, also always being there to lend a hand to her friends. A highlight of her week was going out to lunch with various friends. She loved to spend time in her back garden relaxing, reading a book and most especially sitting in the sun! Lorraine was a kind and loving person, her catholic faith was a guiding force in her life, always giving of herself to others and never asking for anything in return. In February of 2020, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Melanie Matheson and her daughter Gigi, who had become her second family, moved her to Tacoma Washington to be closer to them and move her into a memory care community so that she could get the best care possible and to allow them to better oversee her care. She was a second mother to Melanie and second grandmother to Gigi, the bond that was formed was one of family and it is with the deepest sorrow, yet loving gratitude for all the years we were blessed to have Loraine in our lives, that we say goodbye to her. Yet she will live in our hearts forever. Along with Melanie and Gigi Matheson, Lorraine is survived by her long time neighbor and friend, Barbara Lee, Maureen “Mo” Dear, and Marsha Ray. Predeceased were her friends Rose Shadduck and Paul Giuliani. We would very much like to give thanks to the caregivers and staff at GenCare Lifestyle at Point Ruston in Tacoma Washington for all the loving kindness and wonderful care they gave to Lorraine, unfortunately they never knew Lorraine as we knew her, though that never stopped them from treating her with kindness and respect and for that we are eternally grateful. Also AccentCare Hospice of Tacoma, the compassion they showed Lorraine in the final weeks of her life, gave her, and us, such comfort. Friends are welcome to join us on June 18, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Monte’s Chapel of The Hills in San Anselmo, where we will have a funeral to celebrate Lorraines life. There will also be a graveside service afterwards for those who wish to be there.
