Mary Teresa Epperson

September 28, 1932 - July 11, 2023

Mary Teresa Epperson was born to Mary Frances Williams and Francis William “Frank” Epperson (inventor of the popsicle), the sixth of nine children. Teresa loved creating art, playing the violin, building community, and maintaining lifelong friendships.

After earning a degree at California College of Arts and Crafts, Teresa worked in many mediums -- painting, ceramics, metal sculpture and more. Her final opus was "The Eternal Spirit of the Tree," a book of her paintings of trees with text expressing her deeply spiritual connection with nature. These paintings hang below the Stations of the Cross at St. Rita Church in Fairfax. 

Her passion was finding the divine through serving others, first as a Holy Family sister for 20 years, later through her church community and as a resident of Rotary Village for 23 years. She will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at St. Rita Church on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony Foundation or St. Rita Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
