Michael Christopher Killelea

Michael Christopher Killelea, longtime resident of San Rafael passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday August 4, 2025.

Michael was born in Berkeley, Ca, to proud Irish immigrant parents, Patrick Francis Killelea and Nancy Francis Bigley, and the older brother to little sister Patricia. Michael grew up in Berkeley, Ca, and attended Thousand Oaks Grammar School before his family moved to St. Mary Magdalen Parish. He went onto graduate from St. Mary’s College High School in Berkeley in 1949. Then Michael attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Ca in 1953 and went on to get a law degree from University of San Francisco in 1956. While serving in the United States Marine Corp. he married the mother of his three sons, Margaret “Peggy” Cronin of San Francisco, Ca, who preceded him death in January of 2004. Michael served the City Attorney’s Office of San Francisco as a city attorney for 39 years, loving every day of his work. Michael spent the last twenty years of his life with his loving wife Dorothy Laddish of San Rafael, Ca. 

He is predeceased by his parents Nancy Francis Bigley and Patrick Francis Killelea, his sister Patricia Springer, and his son Michael Killelea. Mike is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Laddish Killelea, and his sons Timothy, Kevin and step children Ken, Bill, Christopher, Jennifer, and Teresa. He also leaves behind many extended family members and lifelong friendships.

The Laddish and Killelea families would like to thank Doctors, Nurses, and the Staff at Marin General Hospital and UCSF Neuromuscular Clinic who provided the highest quality of care and concern for his well being during the last few years.

Services to honor Michael will be held at St Anselm Church in Ross. The rosary will be Wednesday August 13, 2025 at 7PM and the funeral celebration on Thursday August 14th, 2025 at 11AM.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Killelea’s name to: St. Vincent De Paul Society of Marin County Dining Room PO BOX 150527 San Rafael, CA 94915 or to the charity of your choice.
