Michael attended Blessed Sacrament, Marin Catholic, Oberlin College, Dominican University and Stanford University for his masters in Music. The start of Michael’s music career began with piano lessons as a young elementary school student. He played many recitals and was quickly recognized for his incredible talent as a concert pianist. After college, he began his career in 1978 as the accompanist to the San Domenico singers. He also served as a staff piano teacher, and in 1982 was hired as a religion teacher, and as the director of the San Domenico choir. Michael conducted the annual Tableaux production for many years, this year the faculty and singers dedicated the production in his honor. Michael truly loved teaching for 42 years and developed lifelong friendships with his students, faculty colleagues and of course, the beloved Sisters.
Music was Michael’s life. He also lead many wonderful choirs including Blessed Sacrament, St. Rita’s, St. Raphael’s, and St. Anselm’s. In addition to his love of music, he had many passions: tending to his rose garden, gourmet cooking, and singing in the Marin Symphony with his beloved partner.
In his free time, Michael treasured his annual trips to the Russian River, and to San Juan Baptista for their Christmas plays. He cherished his family get-togethers with his adored relatives and friends. Compelled by a love of music, Michael spent hours listening to his favorite classical collection and playing them on his piano. He truly enjoyed sharing everything he knew with everyone around him, and always had the answer to any question. Michael’s unique personality and sense of humor was contagious amongst all. He just loved making everyone laugh and learn. Michael trained his entire life for his important heavenly job conducting the angels above. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at St. Isabella’s Church at 10:30 for the rosary and 11:00 for the church service, following a celebration of his beautiful life.
