Nancy Jane Kelleher

May 7, 1938 ~ July 6, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Nancy Jane Kelleher
1938 – 2023

Nancy passed away peacefully at her home in San Anselmo on July 6 following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.  A true San Francisco native, Nancy was born on May 7, 1938 to Sal and Marietta Onorato and grew up in San Francisco, attending the Convent of the Sacred Heart and Lone Mountain College.  In 1960, she married Gerald (Jerry) Kelleher (1936-2013) who was in the U.S. Navy at the time.  Nancy and Jerry moved to San Anselmo (Sleepy Hollow) in 1964 to raise their family.

Nancy was active in the Sleepy Hollow Homeowner’s Association, serving as President of the Women’s Auxiliary and worked for many years at San Domenico School while their daughters attended grammar school there.  During this time, she formed lasting bonds with the Dominican Sisters, and they remained close friends until her death.  After leaving San Domenico, she worked for 18 years at the Wedding Shoppe in Greenbrae until her retirement.

In addition to being devoted to her family, Nancy greatly enjoyed her summers at their cabin at Lake Tahoe and outings on their boat, which Jerry lovingly named the Nancy J.  Together, they loved hosting friends and family at Tahoe, especially their grandchildren and watching them all learn to waterski and wakeboard.  She also enjoyed going to San Francisco Giants games decked out in orange and black and was also an avid 49ers fan.

Nancy maintained close friendships with people from all phases of her life, including from her early school years as well as from Sleepy Hollow and the Agate Bay community in Lake Tahoe.  She was known for being a generous and loving friend to so many, always offering kindness and compassion to those in her wide circle of friends.

She was preceded in death by Jerry and her sister, Noelle Torre.  Nancy is survived by her three daughters Teresa Dildine (David), Anne Cuendet (Nicolas) and Karen Lambert (A.G.) as well as her seven grandchildren, Michael, Kevin and Nick Dildine, Eva Cuendet, and Ben, Lauren and Coco Lambert.  She also leaves behind her precious cat, Emma, who was a constant companion over the last 8 years.

Her daughters would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the team of caregivers who worked with Nancy over many years.  Their kindness and dedication to her well-being allowed her to enjoy the last years of her life in the comfort and familiarity of her home.   In addition, they would like to thank the Hospice team from By the Bay Health, who provided compassionate support day and night to Nancy and her caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Marin Humane or the Marin Community Food Bank.
