Patricia Lie-Nielsen Obituary

Patricia Lie-Nielsen, lovingly known as Mimi, Cookie, and Pat, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 81.

Born on September 17, 1943, in San Rafael, California, Patricia was the daughter of Charles and Larine Brown and grew up in the charming town of San Anselmo. Her father played a role in shaping the town as a master builder, while her mother was a journalist for the local paper, capturing the stories of the community. Alongside her brothers, Patricia spent her childhood exploring the beautiful natural surroundings and quaint shops of town, later graduating from Sir Francis Drake High School (now Archie Williams High School).

From an early age, Patricia developed a deep appreciation for beauty and style—qualities that would define her throughout her life. She was a style luminary and a true beauty in every sense of the word. With an effortless sense of fashion, she always chose the perfect outfit for every occasion, radiating elegance and charm. Her passion for aesthetics led her to work in boutiques and attend cosmetology school, where she further cultivated her gift for style and beauty.

Patricia’s impeccable taste also extended beyond fashion—every home she lived in became a reflection of her warmth and grace, transformed into a space that was both inviting and stylish. She found fulfillment in real estate, working as an open house agent and property owner, where she oversaw interior design and renovations. She had an extraordinary ability to turn any space into a place of beauty, comfort, and sophistication.

Above all, Patricia’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always encouraging her children and grandchildren to follow their dreams, and always celebrating their unique talents. Her love was boundless, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. As one cousin beautifully put it, “She was not only beautiful on the outside but just as beautiful on the inside, because she had this incredible kindness.”

Patricia also had a profound love for animals, a passion she passed down to her children. She filled her home with the joy of many beloved pets over the years, teaching her children the importance of care, compassion, and responsibility. Most recently, she cherished the company of her beloved cats, Rascal and Rocker.

She is survived by her children: Bo, Richard, John, and Shana; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Reilly, Ben, Scarlett, John Connor, Savannah, Johan, and Sophia. She is also survived by her brother, Harry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Larine, and her brother, David.

A funeral service will be held on March 3, 2025, at Saint Anselm’s Church in Ross, CA. A Mass will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a reception at 11:30 AM.

Patricia will be remembered as the best Mama Mimi in the whole wide world, the Prettiest Girl in Town, and the Cutest Lil’ Cookie there ever was. Her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were graced by her light.
