Richard Meredith Owens

Richard Meredith Owens, 82, of Mill Valley, California, passed away at home on June 21, 2026. Born on January 11, 1944, in Wilmington, Delaware, Richard was larger than life with a taste for loud music, smooth yachts, fast cars, and beautiful women.

A voracious reader and appreciator of art, he was a perpetual entrepreneur who channeled his passion for design, technology, and semantics into a distinguished career. After earning a BA in Philosophy from Johns Hopkins in 1965, he worked at Rolling Stone Magazine before founding TDC/The Design Company in San Francisco, creating award-winning brand designs.

An avid sailor, Richard charted courses from San Francisco to the Abacos. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Owens; daughter, Ariane Owens; and sons, Jack Owens Friend and Rahman Owens
