Robert Carlyle Obituary

ROBERT A. CARLYLE… this sweet soul was born on Monday, May 29, 1961 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Robert is survived by the love of his life… his wife, Kris Carlyle. Parents, Robert William Carlyle and Mary Margaret McGuire. Brothers; Michael, David and Robin. Sister-in-laws; Lou, Angela and Deborah. Nieces and nephews; Christopher, Samantha, Vanessa, Rachel, Brent and Ryan. And many many many friends. Friends he’s had since elementary school growing up in Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Friends he played ice hockey with, sailed with, surfed with, skied with and more. Robert aka “AL” had a sweet soul by nature. He loved life. He loved people. He loved animals. He loved the outdoors. He loved the ocean. AL excelled at everything he touched. Sports, business, friendships, marriage, and life. He was in it for the long haul. He loved everything about being married, living in Marin County and running a business. A business, AL and his wife launched, which garnered immediate success that lasted for decades, before closing their doors. AL loved what he did, and he was good at it. Compiled with his infectious personality, beautiful smile, kind heart, natural charm, and love for life… people were automatically drawn to AL. Socially, and in business. Everyone wanted a home built by Carlyle Construction, Inc. He had built quite the name for himself in Marin County as one of the top Northern California builders. He built countless homes in San Francisco, Marin County and the Napa Valley, alongside his wife. And everyone wanted time on the Carlyle’s boat docked in Sausalito, CA on the San Francisco Bay, because they were guaranteed a fun day on the water with beautiful views, delicious food, good music, stellar sport fishing and always a curated care package to take home of fresh salmon, halibut and Dungeness crab… all caught by AL. AL and his wife, Kris, loved to travel. Loved to explore. And, loved trying new things. AL was the original “foodie”. Appreciating organic fresh quality food. So it was no surprise AL married a woman who loved to cook, which he benefited with beautiful meals such as pheasant, salmon, duck, black cod, lamb, scallops, filet mignon, Dungeness crab, Cornish game hen, etc. AL was loved by so many around the world. He was a handsome man. Striking. Piercing blue eyes. Athletic body. Beautiful, inside and out. He was the nice guy. The guy that cared. The guy that wanted to help you. He had a sweetness about him that is indescribable. His heart was as big as the ocean. AL spent his time with his wife of many years, Kris, and their doggie Sammie, between their home in Marin County, CA, Victoria, Vancouver Island, Canada and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

There will never be another "AL CARLYLE”. He was a special kind of human that has left us far too soon. He lived. He loved. He laughed. And he will forever be missed. Rest in peace, sweet man. We love you so very much AL, and our hearts are aching with your absence visibly noticeable.

So, let’s raise our glass and extend one last toast to our dear friend, AL. The original OG of Vancouver Island. GO CANADA!!!
