Robert Cook Obituary

Robert Patrick Cook — Bob to everyone who loved him — passed away on February 3, 2026, at MarinHealth Medical Center in Greenbrae, California, after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was 63 years old, and he was my husband, my best friend, and the love of my life.

Bob was born on October 1, 1962, near Chicago, Illinois, to Eileen and Ronald Cook, and he grew up in Schiller Park. Those early years shaped him into the person so many people came to rely on: steady, kind, funny, and full of heart. Bob had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for — like they mattered. And they did.

Bob’s greatest joy was his family. We were married for nearly 40 years, and he never stopped showing me love and joy. He was a rock, and the most caring and supportive partner I could have ever imagined.

He was also a loving father to our two children, Sydney and Michael. He loved them with everything he had. Bob was proud of them and made sure they knew it. He was the kind of father who knew what mattered most—he showed up, he listened, and he was never too proud to apologize or make things right. He taught them, by example, how to live with kindness, strength, and humility.

Bob held roles in operations and sales, including positions at UPS and AT&T Wireless, and most recently served as a Correctional Peace Officer at San Quentin for the past five years. He was proud of his work and took his responsibilities seriously, always showing up with integrity, strength, and a can-do attitude.

But what people will remember most about Bob isn’t a job title — it’s who he was.

Bob was the most positive person I have ever known. He had an easy smile, a warm presence, and an ability to lift the mood in any room. He was upbeat and reassuring.

He also loved life. He loved working out, staying active, and being on the water, boating. He had a gift for making people laugh and was always ready with a joke. We will always remember him as the life of the party. He loved hosting friends and family, creating traditions, and making memories. Whether it was Easter egg hunts, pumpkin carving, or backyard gatherings, Bob made everything more fun. He brought people together and made everyone feel at home.

Even through cancer, Bob remained brave. He faced his diagnosis with strength and grace. He fought until the very end with a determination that never wavered. True to who he was, he worried more about everyone else than himself. Until his final days, he was still taking care of the people he loved.

Bob is survived by me, his wife, Chris Cook, and by our children, Sydney and Michael. He is also survived by his siblings Jeanine Brand, Patty Nicholson, and Jim Cook, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his beloved twin brother, Michael James Cook, and by his parents, Eileen and Ronald Cook.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a Mass at 1:00 p.m. and an honor guard ceremony at the Most Holy Rosary Chapel at 1 St. Vincent Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903. Cake and coffee will be served in the courtyard following the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Most Holy Rosary Chapel Window Restoration Campaign at https://catholiccharitiessf.org/stained-glass/.

Bob was loved by so many because he loved so well. His smile, generosity, humor, and deep sincerity will never be forgotten. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life — but I know he will always be with us. His legacy of love, laughter, and fun lives on in our children and in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
