Warren Sulllivan
December 9, 1920 - May 4, 2022
Warren Sullivan, resident of Greenbrae, CA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022, at age 101. He was a native San Franciscan with an enduring affection for the city where he was born on Dec. 9, 1920, and was raised as the only child of the late John Joseph Sullivan, an elected member of the SF Board of Supervisors, and Dorothy Hannan Sullivan. He attended St. Brigid's School, the Bates School and Galileo High School. He worked for the war effort in the SF Shipyards during WWII, and then was drafted into the US Army Air Force. He served stateside also playing piano in the NCO clubs and was about to be called to the Pacific Theatre when the war ended. After being honorably discharged, he graduated from the University of San Francisco and San Francisco Law School.
His intellect, curiosity and wit led him to become an attorney. Straight out of law school and on passing the bar exam, he became one of the founding partners of the Sullivan, Sullivan and Sullivan law firm in the historic Flood Building. Thereafter, he established the Law Offices of Warren Sullivan where he continued to practice and mentor attorneys for more than 67 years until he was 100 years old. He said call me the longest tenant at the Flood Building, not the oldest! His kindness, zest for life, gracious self-effacing manner, and mischievous smile put everyone at their ease.
He leaves behind extended family in the Boston area, friends, and legal and other professional colleagues who will miss him.
A military memorial service will be held on January 20, 2023, 11 am at the Golden Gate National Cemetery, 1300 Sneath Lane, San Bruno, CA. Graveside interment to follow.
